In her never-ending quest to try something new, Michelle took her first yoga class at the student rec center while attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She was immediately attracted to the practice's ability to challenge the entire body naturally and without the use of equipment. Several big moves after college afforded her the ability to check out a wide variety of classes, teachers and styles. Each teacher she came across brought awareness to another aspect of the practice, allowing her love affair with yoga to blossom over the years. Eight years after that first class, she completed her 200 hour teaching certification with Shanti Shanti Yoga School. In class she likes her students to consistently challenge themselves, at the same time being mindful of their own unique edges. She wants to help fellow yogis grow their practice both physically and mentally. Santosha, the sanskrit word for contentment, is her favorite Niyama and she hopes to help students find more in their lives. When she's not practicing yoga, Michelle enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with family. She is an avid reader, a foodie and a general lover of life!
